The Kona Crime Prevention Committee will honor Officer Ellsworth Fontes as its “Officer of the Month” during a luncheon slated for noon April 1 at Huggo’s Restaurant in Kona.

Fontes is being honored for his outstanding performance as a member of the Hawaii Police Department. The guest speaker will be Hawaii County Fire Department Capt. Kazuo Todd.

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee encourages and supports our police department in their efforts to prevent crime, deter potential criminals and enforce our laws. The committee also provides needed police equipment for use by our Kona District officers when department funds cannot support those needs.

The public is invited to attend the luncheon. The cost of the luncheon is $20, all inclusive at the Huggo’s Restaurant. Reservations are required and may be made by contacting Liz Holey at lholey@hawaii.rr.com or 443-7708 by March 30.
